Welcome to the web site of Philosophy Forum Nepal, a not-for-profit organization for the promotion of Philosophy and insightful thinking. Broad based philosophy impels us to attain the highest level of human consciousness. Philosophy with rigorous analysis and integrated logic helps us to get cognizant with unsolved mysteries and seemingly impenetrable realities. Moreover, it injects a great deal of wisdom to fathom the complexities as well as subtleties of human existence. Philosophy negates the system of belief based on fallacy and encourages one to perceive the world setup in entirely constructive perspective.
From the early phase of development of human civilization, there have been perennial queries regarding the long prevailed notions and phenomenon like spirituality, materialism, metaphysics, et al. In Nepal the history of philosophy can be traced back to ancient age from king Janak and much revered sage Yagyawalkya. Nepal is the birth place of eminently enlightened figures like Gautam Buddha. Moreover, Nepal is also the cradle of various epitomes of wisdom and knowledge. Despite the glorious history of Nepal in philosophy, there is very little effort in further enhancing the notion of philosophy. Currently, Nepali philosophy is reeling under the yoke of severe negligence and apathy. In order to resurrect a new lease of life into the morbid sector of philosophy in the country, we have taken an initiative towards establishing a Philosophy Forum Nepal. We strongly believe this concept will go a long way in filling the lacuna as well as reinvigorating the crippled state of philosophy in this country. The forum is committed to making sincere efforts towards enriching normal life through the process of nurturing new-age concepts and ideas. The forum aims at opening up a whole new vista for Nepali philosophy through a forward-looking scanning of the stereotypical beliefs. We believe that myriad anomalies besetting political, cultural, religious, social and economic landscapes of the country have partly emanated from lack of concrete visionary thinking and its modus operandi. The main objectives of the PFN are: - To create awareness about the viability of a broad based philosophy among general public.
- To spurt interest in philosophy among philosophy enthusiasts and common people and act as a center of philosophy where the concerned persons can have healthy discussion and interaction on a gamut of relevant subjects and issues.
- To make effort towards organizing various workshops and seminars on philosophical and other related subjects from time to time.
- To carry out research and investigation on related topics as well as act as an information center of philosophy in an integrated manner.
- To collaborate with different organizations and associations working in the sector of philosophy.
- To felicitate those personalities who have contributed in the sector of philosophy.
- To provide special facilities for the interested persons in the study of philosophy.
- To strive towards producing competent philosophers who can provide intellectual leadership in social issues.
- To carry out research on Nepali philosophy facilitate others in conducting research in philosophy and maintain historical record of Nepali philosophy.
- To collect and publish books, articles etc related to philosophy.
- To develop physical infrastructures like libraries, seminar halls etc.
With such as perspective, we hereby heartily call upon all who support the basic tenets of this forum to affiliate with us in our great voyage toward a new enlightenment.
